John Weng is an Affiliate Consultant with Avion. He is a leadership coach and facilitator who is excited about helping people understand themselves better, breakthrough roadblocks, and achieving their goals. John utilizes a holistic approach to help clients figure out what’s going on, and how they can get to where they want to go.
John started his career in higher education where he managed programs and services for universities. He has held leadership roles and taught leadership and group dynamics courses to undergraduate and graduate students. John has worked with individuals across public and private sectors and professionals ranging from middle managers to senior executives. John’s experience spans across working in a 1:1 setting, intact teams, and groups to develop individual leadership capacity as well as collective leadership capacity.
John is a doctoral candidate at the University of San Diego. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from UC San Diego and his Master’s degree in Postsecondary Educational Leadership with a specialization in Student Affairs from San Diego State University. He completed his Leadership Coaching certificate at the University of San Diego. He holds active credentials as a credentialed coach (ACC) by the International Coaching Federation, Gallup as a Certified Strengths coach, and the Myers-Briggs Foundation as a MBTI Master Practitioner. The combined formal education experience, certifications, and professional affiliations supports and informs his utilization of experiential learning in his leadership development practice. He has authored articles and chapters around leadership education and leadership development.
