Gene is a recognized innovator in the fields of Learning & Development (L&D) and leadership development. He views learning not only as a vehicle for skill-building but as a powerful talent strategy tool that drives professional fulfillment, fosters connection, and strengthens organizational culture and identity. With a unique blend of structured problem-solving expertise and deep experience in developing trust-based, centered leaders, Gene helps organizations craft scalable, high-impact learning strategies, journeys, and solutions that maximize ROI while maintaining a personalized, human touch. In addition to his strategic work, Gene serves as a hands-on facilitator, coach, and advisor, leading large-scale workshops (both virtual and in-person) and coaching individuals and teams on core “power skills” such as problem-solving, analytical thinking, communication, relationship-building, and people leadership.
Gene joined Avion Consulting as a Principal in 2023, bringing with him over 20 years of L&D and management consulting experience. Prior to Avion, Gene served as Director of Learning for McKinsey & Company, where he led global learning strategies for over 10,000 client service professionals—from newly hired analysts to seasoned associate partners. His leadership at McKinsey helped shape the development programs that empowered professionals to succeed in highly dynamic, client-focused environments.
Gene holds an MBA from the Sloan School of Management at MIT, and completed his undergraduate degrees in Economics and International Studies at Trinity University.
Outside of work, Gene enjoys reading historical fiction, barbecuing, and taking family trips to national parks. He resides in Houston, TX with his wife and daughter.
